A method for protocol-based collision avoidance between autonomous marine surface craft
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper is concerned with the in-field autonomous operation of unmanned marine vehicles in accordance with convention for safe and proper collision avoidance as prescribed by the Coast Guard Collision Regulations (COLREGS). These rules are written to train and guide safe human operation of marine vehicles and are heavily dependent on human common sense in determining rule applicability as well as rule execution, especially when multiple rules apply simultaneously. To capture the flexibility exploited by humans, this work applies a novel method of multiobjective optimization, interval programming, in a behavior-based control framework for representing the navigation rules, as well as task behaviors, in a way that achieves simultaneous optimal satisfaction. We present experimental validation of this approach using multiple autonomous surface craft. This work represents the first in-field demonstration of multi-objective optimization applied to autonomous COLREGS-based marine vehicle navigation.

In this paper the problem of coordinated path following for a group of Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) subjected to obstacle and collision avoidance is considered. At first a back stepping controller is used for an AUV to design a path following controller and its stability is examined via Lyapunov criteria. Then using of graph theory, modeling of interconnection between AUV systems is addr...

متن کاملToward a Multi-agent System for Marine Observation
Developing a robust obstacle avoidance module is a foundamental step towards fully autonomous unmanned surface vehicles. Until now, most marine vehicles traverse following waypoints paths, usually GPS-based, totally unconcerned about possible collisions. In this paper, a combined system integrating autonomous flying and surface vehicles is suggested as solution to the path planning problem.
متن کاملProposed ST-Slotted-CS-ALOHA Protocol for Time Saving and Collision Avoidance
Time Saving and energy consumption has become a vital issue that attracts the attention of researchers in Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks (UWSNs) fields. According to that, there is a strong need to improve MAC protocols performance in UWSNs, particularly enhancing the effectiveness of ALOHA Protocol. In this paper, a time-saving Aloha protocol with slotted carrier sense proposed which we c...
